![]() ![]() I actually liked both shows, but on GIRLFRIENDS,I couldn't stand Joan's character half the time because she seemed so unrealistic about life and so neurotic/wrapped in her own silly exaggerated problems. reply shareīTW, GIRLFRIENDS (as well as THE GAME) was created by Mara Brock Akil, not Yvette Bowser, who was the creator of LIVING SINGLE. She was 33 or 34, with a dozen of college degrees, and she couldn't keep a job, nor owned anything, and was always mooching off of her friends, and yet, her friends let her? How in the world can a 33 year old with dozen of degrees, not keep a job, hell, not even a job at a sushi bar? And the fact that she was in her mid 30's and was lazy as hell. I hated the character of Lynn simply because she was another "clueless bi-racial" that is always portrayed on T.V. And as for Lynn, I have a big problem with her character. Toni was nothing but a cluless, self centered ass whom always had the need to throw the fact that she had a baby, in other people's faces in order for them to feel sorry for her. Maya was too loud, too ghetto, and was a total put off for always choosing her friends over her own family. Joan was too whiny, too needy, too bossy, and had that "i'm mightier than you" persona. I personally think that the friendship portrayed in Girlfriends was a fake one considering that they really weren't there for each other unless it benefitted themselves.Īlso I couldn't stand none of the Girlfriends characters. Girlfriends was your usual shallow Californian set of women that cared much more about themselves than their friends. LS is much more realistic than Girlfriends to me in terms of friendship and their problems. Living Single is, hands down, ten times better than Girlfriends. But yeah i do miss Living Single being on air, it is just like the black people "Friends"the tv sitcom reply share Yeah the 90`s had some good tv sitcoms for Us African-Americans.Some shows for us were either Family shows or Ones for the Adults, like The Cosby Show, Different World, Hanging with Mr.Cooper, Martin, On our own, Family Matters, Fresh Prince, Moesha, Sister Sister,Arsideo Hall(i know i spelled the name wrong)The Parkers etc. this show has been gone for 11 years and it is still a good show. And i still am laughing at Kyle and Max as if this was still on the air 1993-1997. but as i am writing right now, i am watching "Living Single" here in Baltimore MD, it comes on the CW at 12:30am. i will watch it sometimes, mostly because it is a Black sitcom and i will alway support us in TV. The Show "Girlfrends" is a nice show, but it to me it only relates to a certain audiance, mainly women, no offense, i do know of some males that watch the show, including myself(but very little. I personally like Living Single better then Girlfriends. Mya- "can't really think who she would compare to on living single". Then again she had the mentallity of Regine wanted nothing but rich men and had to have the best things. ![]() ![]() Toni Childs- "Just like Maxine, Toni would repeat her name alot like Maxine (note.I'm Maxine attorney at law)". Joan- "She was the leader of the group like Kadejah James was". Lynn- "She was similar to Sinclaire, except Lynn was a freak and was into sex" William- "He reminds me so much of Kyle except Kyle was a lot more funny" On Girlfriends, I watched a few episodes here and there, but it's way to similar to Living Single (even though it was created by the same writer of living single). ![]() I'm sure everyone has seen the show on CW called "Girlfriends", but I just wanted to know which is better "Girlfriends" or "living Single"? Personally, I like Living Single, the show was much funnier and I just like the cast more better. ![]()
